MARTA to Host Public Hearings on Proposed FY08 Budget: Service Enhancements Included

MARTA will host a series of public hearings on its proposed FY08 Operating and Capital Budget and Paratransit fare structure on April 23 and 24, 2007, to gather input from customers and stakeholders. The proposed FY08 budget offers numerous enhancements to the system including improvements to service delivery, upgrades to systems and equipment, and additional personnel. No fare increase is included in the budget.

Proposed improvements include:

  • An increase in uniformed presence throughout the system.
  • Additional customer service representatives and cleaning and maintenance staff.
  • Additional bus and rail operators to improve service delivery.
  • Additional investments in paratransit services.
  • Enhancements to fixed route bus service.
  • Ongoing upgrades to lighting and escalators in the stations.
  • Acquisition of clean fuel buses and new paratransit vans.
  • Continuation of projects to rebuild and upgrade trackway.
  • Continuation of ongoing rail car rehabilitation program.

Staff will be available to provide information and answer questions for one hour prior to the start of the official public hearing.

Service Improvements to Begin April 28th

A number of MARTA's bus routes are being modified to improve overall service delivery and on time performance. Many of these changes are a result of efforts made by the MARTA Board and staff to restore a significant percentage of the service that was cut in recent years. MARTA Breeze Card
Breeze Bus Distributing Free Breeze Cards at Rail Stations

Don't miss the chance to get a free Breeze card! MARTA's Breeze Bus is visiting rail stations from now through through May 1st, and customers who board the Bus can receive a free Breeze card and learn how to use its convenient features.

On May 1st, a $.50 charge will be added to the purchase of a Breeze ticket to cover the cost of the ticket. The ticket can be reused and reloaded for up to 90 days. Free Breeze cards will continue to be available until June 30th when a one-time $5 charge per card will be added to the cards, which can be used for up to four years.

In addition to the Breeze Bus, customers can order a free Breeze card at 404-848-5000, online at www.breezecard.com or by picking up a request form at any MARTA rail station or RideStore.
